Volatility in crude oil continues to set the tone in the market, rising 6% today amid reports that Iran is mining the Strait of Hormuz, a development that could not be offset by reports that several countries, including the U.S. and Japan, would release crude oil from their strategic reserves. Equities rose in Asia but fell in the U.S. and particularly in Europe amid higher interest rates, rising by up to 15 basis points in Europe and 9 basis points in the U.S. The dollar appreciated 0.5% (DXY 99.3) and the VIX fell to 24.

Venezuelan bonds remain in high demand amid rising oil prices and outflows from Lebanon and other emerging markets, with both yield curves gaining 0.5 percentage points on average today and hitting new highs for 2026.

Latin American bond yields fell by 0.25–0.5 percentage points.
