Wall Street traders led the market lower amid a selloff in technology stocks that have been driving the rally in the wake of April's crisis. This despite inflation data doing little to alter bets on rate cuts by the Federal Reserve.

A rout in the S&P 500 The most influential group sent the index tumbling from an all-time high at the end of a strong August. Nasdaq 100 fell 1.2%. The market is gearing up for what is known as the weakest month for U.S. stocks, as institutional investors rebalance their positions, retail traders reduce their buying and volatility increases.
