Daily commentary for January 13, 2026.
The Japanese Nikkei rose 3%, remaining the best equity index so far this year despite the continued weakening of the yen. European indices remained largely unchanged, while in the US we saw widespread declines, with the Dow Jones underperforming and falling nearly 1%. In fixed income, rates in Europe rose marginally and in the US remained basically flat. On the commodities side, energy rose nearly 3%, ending above $61 for WTI and $65 for Brent, while metals also rose and agriculture closed mixed.
Venezuelan bonds continue to be sold, falling 0.75-1pt today, with the lowest volume of the year.
Most Latin American bonds ended with declines of 0.15-0.35 points, with no names standing out.
